Sansa Necklace and Makeup Test

Hello my little doves! So when I cosplayed as Daenerys last year, I had a lot of peeps say that I looked nothing like her. That I infact, looked a lot like Sansa Stark. I personlly don't think I look like either, but I decided to go ahead with a little makeup test anyways to see.

Annnd I was right.  But that's okay, you gotta cosplay whoever you want, brah!  I really love Sansa's character development within the books, and I really loved how the series underscored that with the change in her look.  I know she dyes her hair in books as well to hide the fact she's Sansa Stark, but the visual and placement of the change in the series was super cool and really made me want to cosplay her! : )  So maybe I will go and buy her wig and get to makin' her birdwear.

I tried to keep it as authentic as possible with the images I was able to find on the web. 

I tossed around the idea of making a resin mold for the circular and nail pendants.  Ultimately, I didn't think it would be a good weight considering resin is pretty light, so instead I opted for a hand sculpt using Sculpey.  It had a much more realistic weight that stayed in position perfectly around the neck.

Leave me a comment below if you're planning on dressing up as the dark Stark for Halloween or conventions coming up.  I'd love to see pics or just pick your brain about wigs and things :D

And I apologize for taking forev on my Elsa costume tutorial.  Things have been crazy with work and the move, that I haven't uploaded nearly as many tutorials as I would have liked.  Hopefully that'll change now : )

Daenerys Swag

Bonjour, mes petites flocons de neige! (Hello, my little snowflakes)

I hope you're all keeping warm in these wintery months.  If you live in the mid-west, like moi, you're probably cursing this arctic weather we're having.  I wouldn't mind the cold if it didn't make driving so darn difficult.  Every morning I say a prayer that my car will start despite the freezing temperatures.  Does it work?  Not usually, but ah well.  Three cheers for jumper cables!  Hoozah!

So I've had several requests for a few more Dany items, and I'm happy to finally bring them to you:

Yay!  Dany's ring!  I never wanted to make this before 'cause I could never find good shots of it, and I really didn't want to make a replica when I had little knowledge of how it looked.  Finally, I tracked down upclose photos of the ring, and without further ado:

I used a light weight aluminum metal for the ring portion and polymer clay for the top accent part.  I painted it with acrylic paints and added texture.  Then I slopped like literally ten coats of satin finish to it 'cause I was worried it wouldn't be durable enough.  Thankfully, it's been plenty durable.  I've been puttin' this baby through all kinds of wear and it's been holding up better than I expected.

D A E N E R Y S  C O W L  

I fell in love with Dany's season 3 sapphire dress, and I really wanted to implement elements of her style into my own daily fashion.  And TADA!  A Dany inspired hooded cowl!  I cannot get enough of cowls, especially ones large enough to wear as a hood.  They look so chic I could squeak.  (WTF, why would that make me squeak?)  Anyways, they're super practical for the chillier months.  I never leave my house without one.    

The cowl is made with 100% acrylic yarn, so it's super soft and warm.  

And it also doubles as a ninja outfit!  HIYA!  (Available in my Etsy shop!)

I notice in GoT's season 4 trailer, Dany is still wearing her statement slave collar.  And I thought I'd share this updated version of my collar.  I really tried to use texture and color to replicate the cast iron look.  How'd I do? : )

Daenerys Targaryan Make-up Test

So this is my make-up test for my Daenerys Targaryan cosplay.  I'm somewhat pleased with how it turned out, but I do need to work a little bit more on the highlighting and contouring.

I really wish I had the time to sculpt and cast some dragons for this cosplay!  Ravendark Creations on Etsy sells A M A Z I N G dragon props that would be great for any Daenerys cosplay, but alas, I'm super cheap.
